The Next Chapter

Three Blondes Floral Co. is now officially home in Colorado!

I was born in Boulder, CO while my Dad was doing a year long post grad work. Although I didn’t live there for more than a few months outside of the womb, I always had a yearning to get back. I dreamed of what the place I was born looked like, as we never returned while I was at home with my parents. Finally after our 3rd was born, my husband had a week left of his paternity leave and we decided on a whim (the day before we left!) to drive out and stay with a friend near Boulder for a week. I’ll never forget the feeling of driving into Boulder and seeing the flatirons for the first time. I felt like I was home.

We pretty quickly fell in love with Colorado. The rugged beauty, alpine lakes, snow capped mountains, wild sunflowers growing everywhere, sunshine that seemed to never end. We tried for 3 years to make a move work and couldn’t get anything to go. Finally my husband got a remote job so we could live anywhere. Colorado here we come! Except we had a nagging feeling to go to Arizona instead. So we did. We knew pretty quickly it wouldn’t be our forever home even though we absolutely loved living in Scottsdale. The desert is magical but we missed grass, trees and not sweating profusely at all times.

We visited Colorado 3 times over that year in Arizona and finally decided where we would plant ourselves. We moved as soon as school was out and had to pinch ourselves that it was actually happening. When we got to Colorado, I wasn’t sure what direction Three Blondes would take. One of the major reasons I wanted to be in Colorado is the amazing floral community. There are so many wonderful flower farms, the Colorado Flower Collective and a supportive community of women who cheered each other on in each other’s businesses and I wanted to be a part of it. I had lined up some freelancing and knew it would be a great way to meet people, and so far it has. I join in on Sustainable Florist Club events when I can. I am keeping all doors open.

I love wedding work and have learned so much through my time freelancing so I will be booking weddings for 2025. I love teaching floral design workshops. I coached high school cheerleading for 6 years and really have missed the coaching aspect, so teaching fills that part of me. I will be offering some design workshops in partnership with other local businesses this fall and next spring.

I have always dreamed of having a flower shop so that is in the works as well! No concrete plans, but starting to look for spaces. I want to have a place where people can come and take a breath from the chaos of the world. Flowers help me do this and I love passing on that gift to others. I am so excited for where we are going. When I say we, it’s me most of the time. I am so glad to be continuing on my flower journey and can’t wait to share more.
